Dominance

A Principle of Design, Dominance is when Elements of Design are used to make a certain aspect of an image stand out

• some elements more important
• one is overpowering the other
• visual weight of the element
• the one that stands out
• dominant = one in foreground with most visual weight
• sub-dominant = the secondary object
• subordinate  object = little visual weight, background
